March Trance Selection

And here we are today, selecting the best tunes of March 2011. March was a good trance year. We didn't have any breathtaking or mind-blowing tunes but still, we had a few good ones to keep us busy. As always, we were disappointed with the tunes of most well-known producers. It's funny but those tunes from all these 'triple-A' producers lack quality. There is something really wrong going on here and we seriously don't know what it is. Forget the 00's, even some recent years (like 2006) are way better so far than 2011. We can only hope that things will get better. Still, let's see what March had to offer us.

Beltek feat. Natalie Peris - Eclipse (Vocal Extended Mix), Alex Lager feat.Ange - Love Me Deep Inside (Ilya Soloviev Progressive Mix) , Markus Schulz feat. Jennifer Rene - Not The Same (Extended Mix): We decided to put all the vocal trance tunes together this month. Let's start with Eclipse, a quite mellow vocal trance. It's a little cheesy but still, it's well constructed and has lovely vocals. You really need to be in the right mood to appreciate it. The same can be said about Love Me Deep Inside. A nice intro is followed by an incredibly melancholic breakdown. This will be a perfect gift to your girlfriend. She might even start listening to trance after this, who knows. The point is that Ilya Soloviev's mix is great. And then comes Markus latest tune, Not The Same. The tune retains the same style of Markus' previous hit, Without You Near. Jennifer Rene's voice is sexy and fits perfectly in this tune. It's a simple, yet addictive tune. It pretty much shows that Markus is talented, although we'd love to see a Coldharbour Mix with a bad-ass bassline.

Lost Witness - Red sun Rising (2011 Original Mix): This is how you remake a classic tune. Lost Witness did an amazing work here. Although the 2011 doesn't remind the classic version, it is still great. The intro is amazing with the vocals being used cleverly throughout it. The breakdown is as filled with the vocals of the classic version and the techy part after it is a very nice touch. Overall, this is amongst the best remakes we've ever heard.

Paul Miller Presents Meli - Back (Original Mix): Paul Miller is back. Although he released several tunes this month, Back (under his Meli alias) is by far the best; an uplifting tune with a catchy melody and a great breakdown. What Paul managed to accomplish with Back is basically a powerful and energetic tune with a lovely melody. It's one of the rare tunes that can't be found easily these days. Producers take note; this is how you make a great, energetic uplifting tune!

Allan McLuhan - When The City Sleeps (Original Mix): And after Miller's tune, here comes a bomb from Allan McLuhan. This tech trance is as energetic as any trance tune can get. It starts with a really strong bassline and it is pretty evident from the beginning how powerful this track is. The electro effects add some extra variation and the melody keeps the energy going on. And although the energy is lost in the breakdown, the tune is saved by the atmospheric and clever use of pads. And after that, it's a 'hands in the air' mayhem. Kudos to Allan.

Shaun Ansari - Dream Culture (BenYala Remix): BenYala's remix of Dream Culture is a typical, calmly trance tune. It has an old-school sound and might get a bit repetitive but somehow, it will get stuck in your mind. This is mainly due to BenYala's clever and lovely breakdown. The melody is simple but effective and overall it's a well constructed track. Synths and bassline are of high quality. BenYala should also make a chillout version of it. If you want a relaxing trance tune, Dream Culture is for you.

TyDi vs. Richard Durand - Vanilla Dryland (Lance Mathard Mashup): Here is an amazing mashup of Tydi's Vanilla and Richard Durand's Dryland. Lance Mathard's mashup is basically inspired by Andre's Lets Mix Them Together Mashup of those two tunes. And it's overall better than Andre's mashup.

And there you have it. Those were the best trance tunes of March. There are also three honorable mentions: Arisen Flame - Red Monster (Paul Rigel Remix) , Nish Vs Pandora - Atlantic Sky (Nish Alternative Remix) and Aly & Fila vs. Bjorn Akesson vs. Alex Bartlett Feat. Anthya & Duende - Touch The Perfect Red Sun (Wonderful Feeling Mashup). You should also check them out.

Till next month... may the trance be with you!
